Vertical view
Aerial photography can provide you with a range of differing views of your property. On this page, we demonstrate the advantages of each view, to help you understand what will work best for you.
Obliques, otherwise known as boardroom shots, offer an artistic view that shows proximity to nearby landmarks. This type of shot is customarily angled down towards the property in order to show side elevation. Most of the aerial photography we do consists of oblique views as they're generally useful for a wide range of applications.
We can also vary how high we fly to include more or less of the surrounding area in the shot. The example on the right shows a high level oblique view of a residential community, and its proximity to the nearby mountains.
Vertical aerial photographs, also called aerial mapping, are taken from a vertical or straight-down viewpoint. Verticals can be accurately geocoded and in that form they are used primarily for reference and planning purposes. Unlike oblique aerials they are not likely to be used as artistic shots, but they make an extremely useful tool for development projects.
The vertical example on the right shows more of the layout of housing plots and access routes.
